Water Volume Calculator

Water Volume Calculator

Greenhouse fertilizer rates are expressed as “parts per million” (ppm) rather than the customary “pounds per acre”. For example, 100 ppm of N solution contains 100 oz of N per 1 million oz of water. Your margin of error is very narrow in the greenhouse, which makes it imperative that you determine the volume of water very accurately in your float beds.

If you apply 150 ppm your 16% N fertilizer in what you think is 4000 gals of water (4″ in a 16′x98′ bed) and actually your level is 3″ or 3000 gallons, then instead of your target 4000 gallons then you have increased the concentration from your target 150 ppm N to 200 ppm N. The result could be fertilizer salt injury.

The Water Volume Calculator can prevent this type of mistake by calculating the exact water volume in number of gallons for your fertilizer rates to use.
